Am I reading too much into that little text that got thrown in the mix?

Question - (7 February 2013) 1 Answers - (Newest, 8 February 2013)
A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Alright, so I've known this girl for 4 years now. I've liked her the whole time and she knows this.

So, yesterday she did a favor for me and she was texting me after and said it's nice to see me and all that.

We were just chatting about how it went and that stuff when she randomly threw in "so, when's your prom? Who are you going with?"

Then before I replied, she went on talking about the favor she did for me.

Finally told her that I may be asking this one girl, but I've never asked any one out so my nerves are racked and all I got was "Ah.."

I'm so confused, because she never acted interested in me before and she seems to be in a happy relationship with some one deployed over seas. (Although we haven't talked in a while. Things possibly have changed).

She brought a friend with her though, and the friend made a comment, can't remember exactly what, but something along the lines of "so you're the famous __. We hear a lot about you... Haha"

Asked one of my friends and she said she definitely seems interested.

I feel like the age difference and whole me never having a gf would be a turn off for most girls (she's 21 and umm... far from innocent. Not slutty or anything, just had a few long term boyfriends).

So, am I reading too much into that little text that got thrown in the mix? I feel like it was kind of a hint, but I'm not sure.

So_Very_Confused agony auntI don't know where you are but around here you cannot take a 21 year old to a high school prom, they forbid it. Sucks truly as my then stepdaughter could not take her boyfriend to her prom.

so it was not that she was asking you to take her to prom...

if you want to know if she is available you could ask her about her LDR boyfriend... if she says she is still with him... then you can't be more than a friend...,
