x.Helpful.Cupid.x agony auntHiya.

I understand your concern. I think you probably are pregnant as when you had intercourse you were most fertile, so i suggest you buy a pregnancy test or the morning after pill and then it is your choice from there.

Lucky for you, you probably wont have a STI so thats one less worry.

Good luck

xx

Nikita agony auntHi anon, you could be pregnant yes because as Stina has said, you are more fertile just before you ovulate, normally two weeks before your period. If your cycle isnt regular however then your ovulation days will be different of course. Im not going to give you a lecture about contraception but it really isnt worth not using it trust me. There are so many different types out there and you'll find one that suits you. What you need to do now is either take the morning after pill if you had sex in the past 72 hrs or if its too late for that then you need to take a pregnancy test to make sure. Either buy one from the chemist or see your doctor. If you are pregnant then there are options that you will have to think about but first find out if you are pregnant. Hopefull, you'll have been lucky this time but please dont take the risk again. Good luck okayx

willywombat agony auntUnprotected sex at anytime can lead to pregancy - PERIOD!! When will people learn this. If you are old enough to have sex then you are old enough to use contraception.

stina agony auntI have to add that if you are pregnant and don't want the baby, then you can still have it and give it up for adoption, of course. (I know before it sounded like I mean abortion was the only other option. I know you probably knew that wasn't right, but I still felt the need to say something.) You might want to talk to your family and doctor to see what options you have, too.

A female reader, stina United States +, writes (18 December 2006):

stina agony auntHi Anon,

If you had unprotected sex, then there is a chance that you could get pregnant. However, you are more likely to get pregnant within 6 days of ovulation. And the two days before ovulation and the day your actual cycle begins are when you really have to watch out, because those are your most fertile days.

If you don't want to get pregnant, and it's been within 72 hours of having intercourse, then you need to get the morning after pill right away. If it's been longer than 72 hours, then there's not too much you can do if you get pregnant (besides having an abortion).

If you have signs of being pregnant*, then you should take a pregnancy test. If it turns out positive, contact your doctor and schedule an appointment. You should also talk to your family about this, if you feel comfortable. You don't say if this guy is your boyfriend, but if you are pregnant, then regardless of your relationship status with him he needs to know.

It looks like it's time you talk to your doctor about getting on birth control - or at least the very least you need to go out and buy a box of condoms for next time. Since you don't want to get pregnant, it only makes sense to use birth control, right? Why take chances when you don't have to?

Take care.
