A female United Kingdom age 41-50, *usi writes:

Hi, I'm really down and could do with some advice. I don't know what's wrong with me or whether I'm jinxed. Last year my dad's twin brother died. I'd never met my grandparents before as my dad fell out with them years ago. At my uncle's funeral my grandmother (dads mam) asked me who I was. You can't imagine how hurt I felt, I'd waited 26 years to meet her for her to ask who I was. Then the next day my auntie died so we had two funerals within a week. Then 2 other relatives died so we lost 4 family members within 12 weeks.

Then I went out with someone over xmas and everything was going well then we broke up. The next day I found out my gran who I had known all my life has a rare lung disease and is dying. I have told the lad I like how I feel and that I didn't want to push things but wanted to see him and said maybe we could meet for coffee he said doesn't think we should, he will probably let me down and doesn't want to upset me.

What's wrong with me? I don't think I can take much more

A lot of pretty shit stuff has happened to in past couple of months, that has had a profound impact on your life, that guy you were seeing probably did the right thing by you, to be honest.

You have a lot going on, not only has your family been upended and not even had time to grieve the first death but you've now got to contend with your grans illness.

There's nothing wrong with you, but I'm not sure dating right now is the best idea, it will take time for you and your family to pick up the pieces of so many tragedies and they're enough to have to deal with, without adding the drama involved in dating to the mix.

Take Care.
