Question - (17 October 2009) 4 Answers - (Newest, 10 November 2009)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I've come to realize that whenever I feel like getting drunk I feel more attracted and in the mood to makeout with a girl instead of my boyfriend. I don't know why!

For example, the other night I went to a party, and there were about 15 people- around 8 or 9 were girls and the rest were boys

and then two of the girls started kissing.

My boyfriend was kissing me and I just wanted him to stop because I felt more drawn to making out with a girl! I seriously don't know what this means. I love my boyfriend!

Please please please don't get me wrong, but the idea of making out wiith a girl is high in my interests.

I'll admit, I have made out with a girl before,

but it was an accident and it'll probably not happen again unless it's just the two of us drinking and not a lot of people..

my question is:

How come when I'm with my boyfriend at a party while HE's drinking I want to be kissing/making out with girls rather than with him? Does this mean i'm bisexual or bicurious or is it just admiration or something?

thanks so much3

none of us can tell, its how you feel! although i once got told, if your straight and have a boyfriend, and you can kiss a girl on the lips without being awkward, this means your sure about your sexuallity, which i have a boyfriend, who i love! and i kiss my girlfriends all the time, doesnt mean im bi :) but the fact that its on your mind a lot, makes us think its not just a friendly thing... maybe you should finish your boyfriend (go on a break) and try experimenting with a girl?

The alcohol is lowering your inhibitions and odds are good that when your BF drinks, deep down you don't trust him as much and that you want the sexual stimulation from someone you do trust who is safe.

Is it possible that the safty (can't get pregnant, she's unlikely to brag to her freiinds) is part of it?

Being attracted to women at your age is pretty common, you may or may not 'grow out of it', but there's NOTHING wrong if you don't!

I think thoughts and feelings of confusion like this are very common for people, especially at a young age. But some people, like me, can be confused well into their adult life. I don't know if this will help but just remember that human sexuality is very broad in scope. Over here you have totally straight, and waaaay over there you have totally gay. There is a HUGE gulf in the middle and most of us fall somewhere in there.

Maybe you're bi or bi curious and if you are that's great, but there's no reason to label yourself. If you've made out with a girl before and found it pleasurable it's only natural that you'd want to do it again, even if you're not sexually attracted to women. The main thing to remember is there are no rules. However, or whichever way you feel is absolutely fine. There are no rules.

Everyone questions their sexuality at some point. And if you don't know if you're gay or bi or straight or whatever... just imagine the fun you're going to have finding out.

I wish you well.
