Why is it that when someone is an Alcoholic and gets sober they are not supposed to date or have any love relationships with anyone for at least a year? Or is this not true?

Because they don't want to associate with people who hang out in bars, in case they fall into the same trap, and if they get dumped then they might have a relapse.
