I was 14 when I met my boyfriend (who was then 18 years old). We're still together and I'm 19 now and he's 23.

reader, anonymous, writes (20 March 2011): What's the problem I'm 21 and my gf just turned 18. I met her when she was 13 and I was 17. There's nothing wrong with it. I once had the mentality that people need to date strictly in their age group but that's not the case at all. In many relationships the guy is always a few years older than the girl. It's normal.

reader, anonymous, writes (20 March 2011): This is not too big of an age gap - just be careful not to enter into any sexual relationship until you are 18. I usually prefered men who were 2-4 years older than myself since I started dating when I was 15. I've dated men as much as 13 years older too - now there's a big gap! So if you feel that you can control sexual urges, I do not see the big deal. Good luck!
