After fight with a friend, is it ok to email them first rather than talking?

A male Ireland age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I recently had a fight with a friend of mine in work. We work and live together and it's really awkward now. Basically it was a bout a few work issues and somethings that she said kinda hurt me. I brushed them aside and then early last week we had a bit of a fight. It left me feeling depressed, angry and anti-social. I haven't talked to her properly in a week because I don't want to say something I'd regret. I really value our friendship and what we had before. I'm now considering to send an email to her so she can read what issues I have with her and if we can chat soon. I really hate confrontations and don't do well with them. So I'm just trying to get the issues out there with a possible chat later on. Is this the right thing to do? I know I should initiate a conversation but I keep putting it off now. I see the email as kind of breaking the ice between us.
