I'm scared of driving .I was keen to get my licence to have freedom and it took me several attempts to pass but now I have it I feel like I can't drive or be trusted alone in it incase I cause an accident. Is it normal to feel like this? I mean I'm fine if my mum or dad are sat with me but the couple of times I've driven alone (literally down the street) I got panic attacks. And the night before I drive to work which is literally 10 Minute drive- I couldn't sleep because of the thought of driving alone .Please advise. Reply to this Question Share |

Lucky they bought you a car! Im 19 and i got my licence in february but they wont even let me drive without their supervision! Im totaly bored with it and cant wait to go out on my own! Anyhow, just relax and go practice in roads that arent busy;do your reverses, practice parking, etc then you will gain confidence to drive in busier roads. All the best!

Take the car out as much as you can on short trips to get your confidence up, before you know where you are, you will be wondering what you were worrying about.

Everyone is different so yes it may be normal to feel like that. Personally I just drove and never give it a second thought, that was 21 years ago. I would not be without my car now.
I suggest you try and build up confidence on quieter roads first before going into busy traffic.
Taking advanced driving lessons can help you too as well as lowering your insurance premium.
