I'm not sure how to get out of it now though, I feel I may of lead him on and feel guilty about it because it's not fair. How do I kindly and subtly let him know I only want to be friends and get back to strictly just friend terms? please help!

you may not be able to be subtle now.
especially if he has it in his brain that you want more already.
you must stop flirting all together...
never touch him...
and if he asks outright you must tell the truth... that you just don't see him as more than a friend..

You've got to let him know now. Just tell him outright, because trying to spare his feelings is going to make things a whole lot worse in the end...
