A female Canada age 30-35, *msorrymom writes:

I think im addicted to stealing from my mom, im 13 and i've been stealing her credit card for about 2 years. I have spent over 1,000 on it over the 2 years.

She finds out right away everytime, shes a banker, she gets reallly mad every time and i just cant stop.

I always find myself sneaking downstairs to get her credit card info.

Is this an addiction or a guily pleasure. :\

Help.

Neither. It shows that you are irresponsible and have no shame.

Get a job and make your own credit history. I dare you.

I agree, it's probably a bit of both. I'm puzzled as to why if your mum has found out, she hasn't given you a sever enough punishment. It sounds like you want to stop, so telling your mum what you've done (anything new she doesn't know about) and if she isn't making you learn a lesson or restricting your pocket money and making it easy for you to access her cards then she isn't being hard enough on you, making it easier for you to spend spend spend.

You need to tell her it's an addiction and to take you seriously, tell you to keep any money or cards out of reach and stopping your pocket money for a while, perhaps until you've paid back at least half of the money you spent? She should also change her pin numbers. If you're serious about getting help then you need to talk to her properly and overcome this addiction because it will only get worse when you're older and you could end up in some serios debt!

Well you clearly don't want to stop or you wouldn't keep doing it.

Tell your mum to hide it better, and come up with a decent punishment for when you do it.

And don't ever get a credit card for yourself as you will most likely get in to masses of debt.

Good Luck!! xx

eyeswideopen agony auntIt sounds like it's both an addiction and a guilty pleasure. Apparently you mom doesn't mind since she makes it so easy for you to get your mitts on her card.
