Let me praise you for your interest at your age.
In short, you can catch AIDS if you have unprotected sex with someone who is infected (that is, ANY kind of sex without a barrier to prevent the virus from entering your body), if you use the same needle as another person who is infected, if you receive blood that is infected, or if you receive an organ that is infected. Also, a mother can pass it to the child before or during childbirth.
Notice that NO method of protection is 100% foolproof. You might be unlucky and catch AIDS even with protected sex.
Most people die if they catch AIDS. Some people can survive for a very long period if they take a combination of drugs.
Often, AIDS gives no symptoms unless it's too late.
Here you can find a lot of information. It may be written in a very dense manner, but it is accurate and approved.

You can catch aids by swapping bodily fluids with a person who has aids, sex and sharing needles are the most common way to catch it and yes you can be born with aids if your parents had it the only way you can tell is a blood test, and the main consequence is a shorter life there is no known cure but there are many medications to control the disease.
