Question - (26 July 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 26 July 2009)
A female Ireland age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I am confused by a current tricky situation. I am single after breaking up with a long- term ex . An old admirer from the past has helped me get over the break up ( I have a child ). He said initially " he would like to support me in a tough time for me , and be good friends ". Now he texts me five times a day and even called me from holiday in south of France . He now strokes my hair , gives me a hug and says he wants to meet my son .....does he now want more than friends ? He is so supportive I don't want to hurt him , but I feel a spark has developed between us ....

A female reader, TasteofIndia United States +, writes (26 July 2009):

TasteofIndia agony auntIt seems that there is definitely a spark there. He seems like he is very interested in you... just make sure that he doesn't either take advantage of your vulnerability or accidentally become a rebound for you. Give yourself a little extra time to really get over the past relationship and get yourself on steady footing again. I especially would think that it is best for your son not to meet any new men in your life until you feel pretty confident in your relationship with them. It's not healthy for him to meet new guy after new guy after new guy. Only introduce him to men that will be around for awhile!

Good luck! And don't worry about hurting him, you do what's best for you and your son, whatever that may be...
