Well, I got a phone call back Friday with the results from my pap test I had, but I wasn't home to answer the phone so I had to wait until the Memorial Day weekend was over to call back. I didn't think anything of the call, and my boyfriend and I had sex this weekend. I called my doctor back and he told me I had a yeast infection. It's weird because I haven't had any symptoms what so ever, of a yeast infection. I feel perfectly fine, but what I'm worried about is, is it possible for a yeast infection to spread through sex? How likely is it? And also, how long could I have possibly had it before I got my pap test done? My boyfriend and I had sex about a week before my pap test and he's felt fine, I just don't want him to get it. Reply to this Question Share |

A yeast infection CAN spread via sex, however it can be avoided by simply cleaning up after sexual activity. Just by following proper hygiene rules you can avoid it completely and not worry, just for future reference. As long as the woman is comfortable with the sex, she can have sex. Just have the man wash off afterwords. However, avoid receiving oral as it can make your yeast infection worse.
Good luck!

A yeast infection is very rare to spread through sexual intercourse, but it is a possibilty. My advice would be for your boyfriend to get tested just in case, and maybe for you both not to have sexual intercourse with each other until you have both been given the all clear. a lot of things you may not have symptoms for weeks, months or even years.
