A male reader, Ted-ster United States +, writes (2 March 2009):

Yes, you need to see a medical doctor, particularly given your very young age. Good luck; medicine has advanced considerably in this area. I assume you're married, regulary having sex, no drugs/booze...

You didn't ask, but I feel compelled to say it anyway: You're very young to consider having a baby... you have a lot of living to do. Have you been really trying to get pregnant since you were a mere 18 years old? On purpose? Are you nuts?

natasia agony auntThree years is a while, yes. Have you been to the doctor's? You should just go and be checked out first, and go from there. You are very young, though, so it's really unlikely there's anything wrong with you. There could be something wrong with your partner's sperm, though - he should be checked out first.

Other advice for getting pregnant:

don't drink

do lots of exercise

get lots of sleep

get LOTS of sex

A female reader, anonymous, writes (2 March 2009):

First try by taking ovulation tests everyday and have sex when they show up positive. make sure that after sex you are waiting at least 15 minutes before getting up or douching. try laying with your pelvis at an angle so all those spermies can reach your cervix easier. Make sure that you are drinking a lot of fluids, because the more hydrated your cervical fluid is the easier it is for the sperm to reach the egg. If after two months of trying it this way i would deffinetly go to a fertility doctor to rule out infertility! And even if they say you may be infertil don't let that stop you from trying (i was told i was infertil and surprisingly i am 5 months pregnant now!!) All i did to up my fertility was use progesterone cream and i took baby tylenol once a day. All i can say is i surprised a lot of people! Keep trying hun, i'm sure you'll get your dream!

A female reader, deejuliet United States +, writes (2 March 2009):

deejuliet agony auntYou dont give us enough information to answer your question. How often do you have sex? Is it all with the same partner? I would presume that in the course of 3 years you would have gone to the gyno for a check up. Did he find anything unusual? I am not implying that this is necessarily the case here, but do you understand exactly what needs to be done to get pregnant? We had a young lady on here once that said she wanted to get pregnant but had irregular periods, so she went on the birth control pill to regulate her periods and wondered why she still wasnt getting pregnant! She was rather ignorant of how the whole thing works!
