Doctors told me that it was ok if I took one packet straight after the other so I would miss my period (one packet contains 21 pills). I've done this a few times, taking 2 packets in a row but most of the year I took it normally have the break inbetween packs. In the last few weeks I've gone onto using a third packet in a row (this was because I was due around christmas and didn't want to be). I have just over a week left on this pack (I've skipped my period twice by going straight onto another packet)and I've started getting terrible stomach pains, and slightly bleeding (only a tiny tiny amount, but a little more each day). This has been going on for 3 days I think and I'm wondering if its because I SHOULDN'T have kept skipping my period? Is my body trying to tell me to STOP so it can bleed?! Anyone who's on the pill and may have had a similar situation please let me know! Thanks x

there is nothing wrong with skipping your period for more than 3 months in a row. i have been on microgynon 30 for 3 years now and skipping my period for about a year and a half with no breaks. im on a break now because i feel as if i need one and i need my period, ive not taken the pill for 5 days now and today im getting spotting. im not sure if after the 7th day i should continue my pill like usual or wait until i have a proper period. medical researchers have found that its healthier for a female to not have a period at all. ive been doing research obviously because i do want kids one day and ive skipped my period so many times, but the info ive found is all postive saying that woman shouldnt need their periods. when a female is skipping her period the body acts in a way like when a female is pregnant, although there is no baby. so i believe anyone can skip their period for as long as they would like to :)

By the way Boredatwork, I know I don't have to take them back to back to protect against pregnancy, I took them back to back to skip my period.

No need to panic. Ive been on Microgynon 30 for just over 6 months. Another doctor prescribed me the wrong pill so my doctor told me to go straight onto another packet of Microgynon 30 without a break. Ive been getting terrible "period pains" and thought because ive missed my period i was pregnant. I went back to my doctor and he said because i havent taken a 7 day break i will continue to get the period pains and i will slightly bleed. Its just because the lining of your womb is tearing away a bit. Its completely normal but like the others have suggested. Dont do it too often or it will mess your changes of conceiving after.
I hope this has helped.

Taking the pill back to back and skipping your period is very bad for your body, and shouldnt be done two often.
You dont need to take them back to back to protect you against pregnancy... just take them correctly (at the same time every day). I believe you may have mis heared your doctor on his advise, or he seriously needs to go back to mediacal school!

I take microgynon. I'v ran 3 packs of pills together a few times and every time I get the bleeding which I asked my doctor about and she said it's called spotting. It is normal but just mention it to your doctor the next time you go to get more pills. When you finish this packet, have your period and then the bleeding will most probably stop, but if it dousn't then go to the doctor's. Hope this helps! x
