Question - (11 April 2009) 5 Answers - (Newest, 11 April 2009)
A female United Kingdom age 26-29, *ust here to help writes:

ok, so this is kind of two questions in one. to start off with my best friend and her bf have been together for about 4 or 5 months now, and they're getting quite serious. they've not had sex yet but she's been asking me and my other friend to get protection for her. she's only 14 and he's 15. we're really worried that she's going to make a big mistake but we cant get her to listen to us. What can we do to get her to listen to what we are saying?

but at the same time as me worrying about my friend, im having a problem of my own. me and my bf got together at the start of December, but i ended it because i liked someone else and i didn't want to use him. this really hurt him because he loves me a lot. a couple of months back, however, we got back together; this was for many reasons. it was going really well at first, but now i cant feel for him as i did before. he's really eager all the time to see me, but i just don't want to spend the time with him any more.

What shall i do?? i don't want to break his heart again, but at the same time i dont think i can carry one pretending.

please can you help me? i will really appreciate it, thanks xx

by the sounds of it your best mate isnt going to give in. do you think her and boyfriend will be together after? or is either of them possible to end the relationship? and you can try scaring her with the possible results of pregnancy like the others say but it depends how stubborn she is. so i advice one protection, just one, and say only that one alone.

your boyfriend shouldn't be played about like this honey. end it because why play with him, its just gonna break his heart more the longer your together

:) as the others have said good luck

niki20 agony auntusually if some wants to have sex they will just go ahead and do it. try telling her about some of the nasty things that could happen. i.e. std sti pregnancy, whatever. but if she has a one track mind and has a desire to have sex she probably will and you should get her protection anyways. as for you and bf i think you should break it off bc the more time you spend with him the more likely it will hurt him more. good luck.

Hiya, sorry to hear about your situation :(

I think you really ought to try talking sense into your friend because as you said, she could regret it. Not only that but because they aren't legal yet, her boyfriend could get put on the sex offenders list, which I'm sure neither of them want!!

However,

If your friend is going to have sex whether you get the protection or not, I think you should give them some because otherwise she could get pregnant or a disease.

And about your boyfriend, I understand you don't want to hurt him, but If you carry on lying things will get worse, and I'm sure you'll feel even more guilty! You could give it a couple of weeks and try being how you were at the start of the relationship, and give yourself time to think.

If this doesn't work I'd suggest breaking up. It will hurt, but it'll be for the best and as long as you are honest and stay good friends, it should make things a little easier?

Good luck :) xx
