A female reader, anonymous, writes (13 July 2010):

You need to be checked for liver problems (can be caused by alcohol) and additionally hepatitis (some forms are sexually transmitted and some aren't).

if those tests are negative you should be tested for more rare disorders like Addison's (adrenal failure), and metal storage disorders.

Everything i've mentioned causes skin to darken and weight loss.

You've had five tests and all have proved negative. That means that you may have another illness. I think you need to go back to your doctor and get checked for other illnesses.

Honeygirl agony auntI strongly suggest you go back to your dr or find a new dr if you are not happy with your current one, and ask for blood tests to be done as it does appear that you have some underlying health problem.

Diabetes and TB are rife in South Africa, and either one of those diseases cause loss of weight. So please, go seek some medical assistance.

A female reader, LilPixie United Kingdom +, writes (13 July 2010):

LilPixie agony auntWell if you've had 5 tests and all came back negative then the chances of you having HIV are extremely slim.

If you're really worried about it see a different doctor if possible and explain your concerns and symptoms.
