See if a more sensitive penis helps. Tell him to stop masturbating for a few days. Another trick is to have him sunbathe nude so the head of his penis gets sensitive in the sun. But don't burn it! That might help.

This could be a problem with maintaining arousal. Have you tried doing new and different things besides penetrative sex?
It could also be some other issue. Just having night erections doesn't mean that they will stay that way under pressure.
But all that said, sex is 99 percent in the mind, and the mind is what's driving the bus downstairs for both of you.
Maybe you two need a little more foreplay and some new and different physical contact just to keep things exciting on an arousal basis.
The only other suggestion is to go to a professional and find out if something's causing the blood to diffuse too early. There are valves that are in the penis that are designed to trap the blood to keep it erect. If the valves are leaking then there could be a problem when he's thrusting.
Finally, middle age kind of messes with it too. So just look up a urologist that specializes in these matters, you and he both go see that doctor and find out for sure, if all else fails.
