I am shy for making romantic steps (although pussy in other cases) and on the other hand we are not closer than exchanging simple and formal greatings every morning we see each other. How can I get closer to her and talk to her about my feeling about her?

 just ask her how she is and then start talking. sometimes it's difficult to prejudge how soemone's going to react but it's better to regret ever asking her out than to regret never knowing what she might have said.
don't see her as a challenge.

 Its probably hard to have a conversation with her because shes not a flaky person and is more intense...how about asking a question about class then bringing it around to something more personal?
