It may be just his way with friends/people in general like you do it, but his rules may be different. You were once close so even though you're not seeing each other now his depiction of you may be closer than yours of him.
I know I do it to all my female friends all the time ones I like, just friends, and x's (ones I decide to stay in contact with). None of them worry about it not even the ex's they just know its me, but then again thats me.
For him id take it as if he still likes you, but ultimately this is your decision to make. What about you, do you want to lose him or keep him?
