He spoke to her about a job for me as I will be graduating in April. Now, there's this show in 3 days a which she is one of over 200 exhibitors and she has asked me to attend it and help out as well. There is no specific interview or anything set up as such. I have never met her before and have never been part of such an experience. ok and I'm 25. So I tried to get an appropriate outfit. The show runs from 10-6 and a friend of mine who has worked in Canada before helped me pick an outfit and it's a greyish satin blouse with a black thick satin-y sorta skirt, it's not flowy or anything, it's high waisted and fitting and made of a thick material and hits at the knee. I just want to know if this outfit will be appropriate for the day, there might be dinner after the show too. But is it alright for me to wear this? Thanks for reading and all your help. :) Reply to this Question Share |

I hope this still makes my outfit appropriate...I really don't know much more about the show myself, except that there will be about 5 other people in our group. Also, I plan on wearing closed-toe slingbacks for shoes. hope that sounds fine too...i'm really nervous about this..

In other words, are you going to be around fashion designers?? Business people?? art collectors?? It makes a huge difference. For instance, if it is a corporate business type setting, they are very specific about what you wear. You must wear nude tights. Closed heels showing no toes. A tailored suit type jacket. Stuff like that. But if it is a more casual setting like an art show of some sort then you don't need to wear nude tights and the dress code is not as rigid. And you can be a lot more hip and trendy and casual. Just try not to wear open shoes. But since it is your first day I would keep it simple and classic.
In any case, because it is an early event, 10-6, and assuming it is NOT a corporate business setting, I think that your outfit sounds great. It sounds like an outfit that makes you seem like you are serious about this job. Just pair the blouse with a pretty necklace. Throw on some small earrings. I guess you could wear small heels or flats. It sounds like you might be on your feet all day so I would wear comfortable shoes. And wear a nice bag. Good luck.
