A male United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hey everyone, this may be a silly question but I want an honest answer.

I have an eye condition called esotropia which is where my eye turns in so basicly my eye is cross eyed.

My mates tell me I shouldn't worry about it and that I'm a good looking lad but it still puts me down, even though I know I can't change it. So my question is would my eye turning in put girls off me? Please be very honest.

A reader, anonymous, writes (26 August 2007):

Hello, Anon. Girls or anyone else who are "put off" by it are not worth worrying about. So don't. Anyone who focuses on such a thing about any person and not about who the person is, is a "small potato". I knew a great girl in school who had one blue eye and one green eye. She was a beautiful person, but the thing bothered her so much when she was young, it affected her personality. Most people didn't even notice it. But she felt everyone was looking at her eyes for the curiosity instead of her. She later got colored contacts that made both eyes blue. Anyway, the point is, if you let something so small become so great, you are missing the best part of being young and having a great young life. And I am not so sure that there are no ways to help the problem. You might look it up, but I think there are treatments that can strengthen the muscles of the eye and bring both more closely aligned, and without surgery. I don't know if you have consulted an opthalmologist or not. But, if you haven't, you should do so. Whatever, you should take your friends' advice and try to lose the self-conciousness. You might be surprised at how few people really notice your "condition". Best wishes. Tom

My ex had an eye like yours, I thought it was cute and unique and I thought he was gorgeous. I don't hink it will make any difference.

At your age it might. Teenagers are so superficial they might find it a little weird. Just let your personality outshine your condition and you'll be just fine. Let the girls know it doesn't affect your self esteem and security.

More mature women will not care about it much.
