A week later my vagina began to get itchy and sore, slight discharge so thought it could be thrush, so I bought some canasten cream and used it for a week but iv still got the symptoms...so I went to the doctor and she gave me a stronger steroid cream..but she asked me to have a swab done which iv got to do tonight and give to the doctors tmw. Im worried sick that it might be a STD infection and not thrush afterall...Would it be possible that it could be STD? even though my boyfriend didn't have intercourse with me?...Im so worried now.

If you had direct contact with his penis (NO CONDOM) it's possible. but to give you an STD that means HE has to have one already. did you two NOT discuss this and get bloodwork before hand?
I will tell you however that it's probably just a precaution on the doctor's part. I have a "spot" for lack of a better word that often erupts with painful itching... the doctor SWORE it had to be herpes when he saw it and cultured it... and I was immediately put on valtrex for herpes. I didn't disagree based on my past history.
Imagine both our surprise when it came back negative. We still do not know what it is but it's not an STD. Perhaps you just are having a very bad case of yeast.
We treat yeast here not with steroids but with Miconazole nitrate usually. Yeast is a fungal overgrowth and steroids would not touch it...

You're doing the right thing by going to the doctor so don't stress out since there's nothing you can do about it now. Just try to relax until you get the results and be sure to practice safe sex (and I don't mean just intercourse) in the future. Good luck!
