If you have a baby and decide to breast feed but you don't want your boobs to start sagging or your nipples to look funny, can you just use a breast pump, will that prevent your nipples from looking so different??

A female reader, anonymous, writes (22 August 2008):

Hi

Breast pump is hard on the nipples. Stretches them painfully.

When you breast feed, nipples are sore in the beginning but harden up. This returns to normal afterwards.

The colour change to darker is related to pregnancy and not breast feeding. This is often permanent and darkens even more with each subsequent pregnancy. You also get that dark line from navel to pubis.

Breast feeding is great for bonding and anti bodies.

It doesnt make sagging worse either, as this too occurs after pregnancy (whether you breast feed or not).

Holding a baby to your breast is very satisfying if you can do it...

A male reader, DoubleM United States +, writes (22 August 2008):

DoubleM agony auntIn my opinion (a man's), the aftereffect of breast feeding tends to either do nothing, or may result in slightly enlarged nipples afterward (a good thing to most men). In most women, it seems to do little at all, as they return to pretty much as before within a short period of time. The issues that most affect sagging are age and excessive weight.
