A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I have just started my first job in a serious role in social services. I am 22.

However it has been my first week , no contract yet the admin are very slow and it has been a hard week.

Just realised my lunch isn't included in the hours so basically i owe 45mins to make up. but i had around 30min toil (some days i worked over because was busy) i owe in total 16minutes.

I ended up calling my manager 6pm just saying i've messed up and only just realised. she giggled said its ok, i can make time up and we will talk about it monday.

I am just nervous, she did say i've been having good responses from the team regarding me. I don't want to get into trouble nor did i want to lie. What will happen?

Honeypie agony auntI don't think so, but I do think your your manager appreciate that you did the math and noticed that you OWED them, that mean you are careful, honest and pay attention.

Keep up the good work :)

CindyCares agony aunt The sack ? No,why ?

It was just a misunderstanding -in your very first week of work. You pointed it out yourself,-good move- and you have already been told that it's Ok and that you can make time up.

You'll talk about it monday- just to figure out when exactly you'll make time up, and how in future to avoid similar misunderstandings, and make sure that now you are clear about the rules, hours, etc.

Don't sweat it, and don't ruin yourself your weekend over this :)

Aunty BimBim agony auntYou are unlikely to get the sack, if your manager giggled at you it would seem you are going to be okay.

Your manager is now aware there were some conditions and so forth about being employed that you were unaware of. She might just sit you down and have a chat to make sure there isn't anything else you should know, also she probably will reiterate there have been good responses.

So, settle, relax, it will be okay.
