What about if you're on the week where you don't take the pills? Help!

I've started my monthly bleeding, and I think I was late because of my pills. My periods have become much later, lighter, and shorter these past few months, so I'm in the clear. Thanks SO much!

No the contraceptive pill does not affect a pregnancy test reading.

No. The pill doesn't exactly work like that and you couldn't get a positive result for a non pregnancy. If you've got a positive test see your doctor immediately for further advice.

Hi there anon,
No - being on the pill *should not* result in getting a false pregnancy test. The hormone HCG is only apparent in the female body when she has become pregnant. (The only time I've heard of someone having a false pregnancy reading as positive is when the woman is taking fertility drugs b/c sometimes those have the hormone in them.) If you took a test and it says that you're positive, try retesting. If it comes up positive again, it's time to schedule an appointment with your doctor.
Take care.
