They said its only exceptable to masturbate if your a porn star and do it in front of a camera.

Brenna, where did you get this idea? Uncle Phil (aka Buzzkill...lol) hit it right on the head(no pun intended) with the analogy of masturbation being common to all people. Maybe some are a little more embarrassed than others about it. But everyone does it.

I think some boys have a hard to accepting that girls actually do masurbate. The difference is that girls don't always tell people or walk around with their hands down their pants. Masturbating is far from being slutty - in fact it's probably the least slutty thing you can do to pleasure yourself.

Masturbation is totally normal for both sexes, everyone does it and that is widely accepted.
I wonder if what you are referring to here is the difference between attitudes for men and women having multiple sex partners? Often a girl will get labeled as a slut if she sleeps around and has casual sex, whereas men are labeled a "stud" or celebrated if they have sex with lots of women.
I guess this is just based on traditional (outdated) values - men who can attract lots of women are considered more masculine and powerful because of their ability to attract a woman (this goes back to cave man times) whereas women are supposed to remain a virgin until marriage, and they are supposed to be loyal and faithful to one man.
It is just remnants of caveman thinking that has been left over in today's society. Slowly we are catching up, and it is normal now for women to enjoy sex just as much as a man would, so therefore if she chooses to have casual sex then that is her choice.
Try not to worry about what other people think of you - as long as you are happy with your choices in life and you are proud of the decisions you have made then that is all that matters!

It's accepted throughout the world that masturbation is the one thing that is common to all people and is the one thing that unites all members of the human race - as well as several other animal races!
