Try not to read too much into it, and move on yourself. It's hard enough letting go of someone without getting over them and then going backwards because of wishful thinking.

if he didn't like you and he was with his new girlfriend, he wouldn't be staring at you. i think that he is still attracted to you because if he wanted to move on and really liked this girl, he would have moved on and not paid much attention to you (even if you were friends he wouldn't stare at you). the fact that your gut tells you he likes you means something.
