writes:Robert has been a lot nicer to me lately. He stares at me and likes to make me laugh. He makes it sound like he's not close to me but he is. I know that I'm getting closer to him and I don't know how he's taking it. I like him a lot and I enjoy talking to him and spending time with him. I hate that hes so shy and lies sometimes. When hes with his friends he pretends like he hates me but when we text he is so honest and nice. Why would he do this?

The reason he does this is because he's a little boy and he's too immature to be dating.
If you take this behaviour and put up with it like it's normal for a boy to be horrible to you then you are learning a bad lesson and you are teaching him not to respect you and it's fine.
Tell him that you will not ever speak to him again if he lies and tells people he hates you. Tell him to grow up.
What would you rather have? A boy who treats you like crap and makes you miserable, or all the boys knowing that they have to treat you properly and have them respect you.
Get this right now and you will never have a bad boyfriend.

He probably likes you but to shy to admit it.Some boys, infront of their mates, wants to act big and clever.You should tell him how you feel and see his reaction. It sounds like he likes you too, so ask him and maybe it will blossom. If he says he just likes you as a friend, then at least you'll know and wont get to many feelings for him.Or he could say he doesnt like you at all. But then at least you wont have a fake friend who doesnt even like you.Good Luck x
