A female United States age 51-59, anonymous writes:

My man can only last longer during sex if I am on top of him, or if we have sex laying on our sides. Most of the times when he decides to roll over on top of me, he loses his erection. Do anyone know why does he lose his erection from simply flipping to another position?

A reader, anonymous, writes (5 March 2011):

I'm 45 years old male and I'm taking hypertension pills. My testosterone level is about 340 and doctor said it's normal range for my age. I got no problem of erection when laying on my back (lady on top) but losing erection immediately when changing to other positions. Are there anything related to pinched nerves? I have a sciatica problem too. I'm a member of Kaiser Permanate, and as you know about Kaiser's doctors, they just say " I don't know." or "It's beyond me." Please help.

A reader, anonymous, writes (29 September 2010):

If he is also the same age as you, it may be a normal thing. As men get into their 40's and beyond, they sometimes need more manual stimulation to remain erect. The days of getting hard from just thinking about sex may be at an end. I'd suggest he gets a checkup and tells the doc. It may be a medical condition (low testosterone, diabetes and other things may be at play), or it may be psychological (stress, pressure, boredom, lack of sleep). Stress induced mild ED is VERY, VERY common...even in younger men. It may go away, or it may stay. It's part of aging, and completely normal. How does HE feel about it? If he is self conscious or doesnt think theres a problem, he may be reluctant to get it checked out.

The one thing most women worry about in this case is that they aren't attractive anymore or something, and that is almost NEVER the case. But be supportive, and that will increase the chances of it going away. If he thinks you are unhappy, it will cause performance anxiety, which will exacerbate a small problem and make it a big one...not in a good way.

A female reader, confessyourmess United Kingdom +, writes (29 September 2010):

confessyourmess agony auntit may be so because he needs consistant movements and speed to keep his erection stable. in order to switch positions it also means that you'd have stop either stop or slow down so that may be the cause. however if this continues to happen he should go and see his doctor. Erectile Dysfunction (not saying he has this) has a range of causes, both physical and psychological.

Possible physical causes include:

•heart disease,

•diabetes,

•high blood pressure (hypertension)

•hormonal problems.

Possible psychological causes of ED include:

•stress,

•anxiety,

•depression, and

•relationship problems.

Hope I helped.
