reader, anonymous, writes (22 September 2010): I agree with Romany in the last sentence. Lay your cards out and let him know where you want things to go. Being a guy, I need to be reassured once in a while; even if it's as simple as "hey, don't worry I'm not going anywhere", or "I love your company and you"...soften things up...if kindness doesn't assuage the beast, then there's more to it than him simply not feeling welcome...

Perhaps he is worried about out staying his welcome, perhaps he has been made in previous relationships to feel like he was not given them space, or perhaps he is trying to avoid being rejected by getting in their first.
Till you really speak to him, a good heart to heart, about the living arrangements, there are far too many perhaps and maybe's here.
