I tried the whole striking up conversation thing with him and we had one or two good conversations but he seemed really uncomfortable and seemed to avoid me when possible after that. So I decided he wasn't interested and put it out of my mind. What confuses me is that I still catch him staring at me (he has gotten much better at hiding it though and when I do catch him staring he seems a little startled like I caught him up to something. For example I knew he was looking at me from across the room at church and I ignored it for awhile then glanced over and he was still looking!). Then there have been times where we have shown up to small group about the same time and he will wait for me to get out of my car and he will say hello and ask how I am but won't let me get close to him not to mention he won't face me. And each time he had to wait for me to park my car and walk up so he could have easily walked in without waiting and it wouldn't have been rude or anything. In group conversation he sometimes seems to be caught a little off guard by my wit and if I try to joke with him a little he seems to not get it sometimes and sometimes thinks I am being serious even though everyone else in the room gets the joke. And they are never jokes at his expense or anything like that either. He also seems really suprised when I can speak to him intellectually as well and he will then hold a good conversation with me. I guess my question is why does he act so weird around me all the time? It kind of hurts when someone will wait for you but won't even let you get close to them or look at you, I mean really he stays a good 5 feet at least away! I just don't understand his behavior especially since I stopped trying to be friends awhile ago.
