Why do some guys like short hair on girls? Isn't it a bit boyish?

No offense because I think can be cute, but why do some guys like when a girl's hair is short. isn't it a bit boyish? i just don't really get getting turned on by someone with less or around the same hair as you... but i'm just speaking about getting turned on by her hair's physical appearance (i do know that some girls can rock it; i don't mean to sound so critical) because a girl with a buzz cut may have the greatest personality and cutest smile. i just don't get what happened to long, luscious hair is all. ?
