After sex your body is just one mass of emotion, and usually that makes you feel good. However, you just felt low and my guess is that it's just the tension, stress, and guilt of having sex with an ex.
My rule is - once an ex, they stay that way.
Otherwise, it gets jumbled and confusing and takes so much longer to get over them.
You say this guy was your best friend...it's easy to fall under the spell of sexual atraction to a friend, especially if you were once together. In future, try not to succumb because it leaves friendships in awkward misshapen questions such as, "Are we supposed to be together now?" And, "Will it be weird between us?" - and to the latter, the most likely answer is unfortunately yes.
I beleive you should try to salvage this friendship, but (as I have learnt from past experience), don't try to take it further than that. If you stay as friends then you'll be able to get over him better.
Also - maybe your self esteem is low? A common symptom of low self esteem is crying after sex. Try shopping for new clothes, make up and bath stuff, all of which will leave you on a dopamine high (a feel-good hormone) - a classic girly remedy that works.
