All I know is that, as an approximately 60-year-old man, I have frequently awakened with erections all my life since about seven or eight years old. Some I know are associated with erotic dreams, and I think that some are apparently related to a need to urinate. The erotic ones are usually quite pleasurable and have frequently been used to advantage when a wife or girlfriend was available, even in the wee hours.

in simple terms they don't know but best guess is a sleep thing or the one i think it is, the bladder thing....
either way relax and enjoy...:)

Mine does the same hun, read somewhere that it's due to his bladder being full. Men go hard and soft throughout the night due to sleep patterns etc. But usually waking up with one is due to needing the loo! xx
