A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Soo here I go venting. I'd like to know, do guys like to play these games or something? It really isn't fun. I've been talking to this guy, and usually he'd be the first to contact me. And he use to complain about him always being the first to contact me, and how he thinks I don't want to talk to him and blah blah blah...But now he plays this little game where he won't contact me at all, so I would be forced to contact him. I love talking to him, even if its just to see how was his day. I'm a very stubborn person, and even though I'm so anxious to talk to him I won't let my pride get the best of me. I've been texting him all the time since Ive been on my summer vacation. Should I call him or something, or wait till he contacts me first?

A male reader, Fatherly Advice United States +, writes (28 July 2010):

Fatherly Advice agony auntSo you are going to let your pride get in the way of your happiness.

What he is asking for is not unreasonable, or even uncommon. It is more typical of older couples. He wants you to share the burden of initiating. He is forcing you into a more equal relationship. I would say that he is planing long term with you.

So What do you want? Do you want to be in a long term relationship with a man who treats you as an equal? If so, call him. Be prepared with things to talk about. Set up a date. And when you are done tell him that it ins now his turn. Do you want to be a pampered princess with him waiting on you for as long as he will put up with it? Then put your foot down and refuse to make a call.

Of course I could be wrong. There are two other possibilities that should be brought up. It's summer and he may have a job now that he didn't have before so he has less time to think about you, or is there now physical distance and his feelings are fading. Summer is a change of life at your age. The other possibility is that there is someone else using up his energy.

In the end Girls are much better game players than guys so you will probably win.
