Dear Cupid, too make a long story short, i am currently a senior in high school, and i have alot of pride in myself and high standards for myself, i stick out more then alot of other students at my high school, every guy wheres skinny jeans and snapbacks, polo shirts, they are a bit preppy, or Swag boys, my question is why are these guys getting all these cute girls when they look like that?

llifton agony auntgive it a year. you'll be in college and it will all change. high school is a whole different world. everyone is still a kid and girls are attracted to douches like that. once you get older and are in college, you'll notice that WOMEN (key word is women - not girls) will find you completely appealing. and these punk guys who look dirty and unkempt? they won't be getting girls at all. because women don't go for losers like that. a guy in skinny jeans looks like a total douche if you ask me.

anyway, keep your head up. you'll find that you'll have a surplus of women in the next couple of years.

Dionee' agony auntWell, i leave it to what's hot right now. That kind of dress is what's in, although, i must say, i hate the swag type of guys who wear skinny jeans. I'm 17 so i know it's hell finding people who don't dress like that these days. Skinny's on a guy in my personal opinion isn't flattering, charming or sexy. It's just funny. They wear skinny's and then let them sag on top of it . . . I can kill myself when i see that BUT i don't completely count them out as people because of how they dress. Hell, it's just clothes after all . . .

However, how you dress is your business and to hell with what others say or think. But then again, ironing your clothes to infinity is abit insane so i'd try to ease it with the no crease policy you have when it comes to your clothes. Try to add stuff to your look. Keep your clothes but add small accessories and small touches to spruce your outfits up. Perhaps get afew printed T's or some out there sneakers just to grab attention and not look like a father who is one foot in the grave. Look like the young person you are.

What way does Bieber, Drake, 1 Direction, every rock band, pop group these days that these girls idolise and dream about wear OP? Well it stands to reason they'll go for similar guys.

Plus OP there aren't many teen girls who think "straight edge" is an attractive quality. Your clothes don't exactly scream "rebellion". Even if technically you're the most rebellious person there for not conforming to the teen fashion stereotype.

OP there's one rule I've always followed in life and that's to dress in a way that makes me comfortable and feel good, not what others expect.

When I was your age grunge was just dying out and being replaced by Brit Pop, Oasis and Blur the many clones of them. Everyone had Beatles hair cuts while I wore flannels and torn jeans still. I wore the same pair of jeans all week and only washed them every once in a while.

That's how I felt the most comfortable and happy. But I also found there were lots of girls in the rock social scene in my city and they were attracted to that kind of guy. Yes the pop music loving girls were more numerous, the dance scene girls were too but even some of them liked me because my style was rebellious and may attitude was the same.

You need to date and associate with girls who are into the straight edge, old fashioned guy thing.

Style comes naturally based on how you feel and your attitude. Wearing their type of clothes is not going to change any of that in you and you'll look awkward in those kind of clothes OP.

You know nowadays I just wear suits constantly except when doing sports stuff or outdoor pursuits.

I'm a teacher so wearing suits is my uniform for work. Once I became rich I was able to afford top quality imported suits and tailored made ones. While originally for work I just felt so good in them, the quality of the fabric and the cut of the fabric was so sublime I just took to wearing them all the time. But I also have kept my rebellious nature. I wear Batman, Nirvana, etc belt buckles and cuff links or I'll have a superman t-shirt that's fairly visible under a white shirt.

You see OP the girls you want to date can relate to the style that these other guys have. How many can relate to your style? I think you should look at ways of spicing up your own look but keeping the underlying principle 'well kept'. Wearing a pressed shirt and jeans today? throw in an American Psycho belt buckle, or wear cons. Add a bit of rebellion to your style and to your attitude. You can be in very perfectly pressed and clean clothes but also have an element of wildness to it. Think outside the box.
