Here's help with this bit of "guy-speak".....
He was trying to tell you that there were a few good things about what happened between the two of you... and a few not-so-good things...... (That's the difference between "bitter" chocolate and "sweet" chocolate).....
.... AND, he decided that the bitter outweighed the sweet - for him - so he dumped you....
Hope this helps.... Good luck...
P.S. We guys think we are oh-so-sophisticated when we use such unclear words to describe what's going on!!!!

It means that there were good and bad things... Obviously the bad outweighed the good in the end...

reader, anonymous, writes (10 February 2013): It actually means that it bitter and sweet at the same time for a good example would be if a girl and guy who were a couple were going to lose eachother as one was leaving the country and they went out and had a lovely meal together and danced the whole night long but then in the moring the girl had to leave then it would be bitter sweet because the hsd a great time and would have some great memories but she still had to leave. But some people use it whilst meaning there was good and bad parts at different times.
Hope this helps
