It is not like I do not like it or anything but whenever I am assertive or stand up for myself I always get the same comment from people...oh it must be the red hair. No way do blondes or brunettes have to contend with this. I guess I am a little fiery but it is hard being sterotyped. Does anyone else have red hair and has had to deal with this or why is it that redheads can teased sometimes. I read somewhere that redheads used to be burned at the stakes as witches in medieval times.. anyway...any encouraging words would help. As a kid I used to be teased about my freckles. It's a well known fact:
Redheads are firey
Blondes are dumb
Brunettes are boring
Black hair is exotic and interesting, but just a bit evil
Jewish people are very good with money
Yorkshire men are incredible stingy with money
Super villains all have English accents
Japanese people LOVE maths
Scottish people love drinking and fighting
Italians are all super passionate about food and women and wine
and the French eat nothing but frogs and wear stripey jumpers
The list goes on. Yes it's a stupid stereotype.
If I was there they'd pick on me every time I had a cup of tea because I am English.
People like to point out your differences.
Just come up with a standard come back and use it on people, eg "ah you're being angry because of your hair" "ah, you're being stupid because of your face!"
Or if it is some one senior that you don't want to be nasty too, then just point out that they are the 17th person to make a comment about your hair today.
They'll get the message after a while that it stopped being funny a long time ago.
Good Luck!! xx

Hey, I had red hair, and was teased endlessly. The constant "Stupid Ginger" "Firecrotch" jokes that tormented me day in and day out. I know its not the best way to deal with it, but I just dyed my hair black. I do so every month or so. There was complication with that for about a week but people fell to love it. I am barely teased for it at all now. I don't have many words for you such as "as you grow up people will mature and stop calling you names" or whatever, because I am not a believer in that. People will always suck, and that will never change. If you are really sick of being called these names, dye is 6 dollars tops, and lasts for a month. Dying your hair doesn't make you a faggot, or homo or whatever you've been told. Try it out. =]
