My girlfriend proposed to me yesterday, just hours before being deployed by the Marines and I accepted!!!!!!! It was so emotional for the both of us, sad and sweet, as our love runs endless and deep. She'll be returning to the states in six months, at which time we're going to take our marital vows, and as you can see I'm right on it! All input will be appreciated!

Last year my wife and I parted and because my income is substantially higher than hers she got the house and I'm paying her alimony and child support for three children from her prior marriage. It's no different then the divorce proceedings for heterosexual divorces.

Don't let that fool you because it's contradicting. It comes down to the extent of gay lesbian financial intermingling. We're legally binded to one another in the eyes of the state because we co-own a real estate, investments, vehicles and so forth. The state and property tax bills hold both of us accountable. In the case of dissolving, it would be legally handled like a divorce. It's amazing how on the surface it's not legal but stamped legal on the states and counties financial records. Our government always works to it's benefit. I guess you can look at it as you're legally married in our state but we're keeping it quite to save face. Bureaucracy nonsense is what it boils down to. Wishing you ladies the best!

Hey! First, congratulations on your engagement! That's fantastic! I wish you both a wonderful life together!
As of today, you can legally get married in six states, and they are:
Massachusetts
Iowa
Connecticut
Vermont
Maine
New Hampshire
So, as you can see, mostly in New England except for Iowa.
For more details involving civil unions and recognition of gay marriages performed in other states, this website link should prove informative.

Unfortunately, there are thirty states with constitutional bans on gay marriage. Hopefully, tolerance will keep moving forwards in this generation and the ones in the near future.
Good luck!
