writes: Can anyone advise me on which show to go to tomorrow?. There are two great shows on tomorrow night in the same city. One is a comedy show. The other is a tribute band to a band that I like. I have seen both of them before. I will be going with a friend. She hasn't seen either of them before. I feel a bit pressured as this is also a treat for her birthday as by a coincidence, it's her birthday a couple of days later. I want her to enjoy it. I told her to check our both of their videos in youtube, but I don't think she has, and she just told me to choose. Its a shame that one of the shows wasn't on in the afternoon and the other on at night, or on different nights. Both shows will be on again next year, so whichever one we miss, we can see them next year. The venue that the comedy show is on is a good venue. I haven't been to the other venue where the tribute band is on tomorrow. I have seen the tribute band at the venue where the comedy show is on tomorrow too. I have been depressed lately, and both shows would cheer me up. The comedy show will be seated, and the tribute band show will be a standing gig. Both on the same night lol?.

Just out of interest - what did you decide in the end? (And I hope you had a good time?)

It's very thoughtful of you to give such consideration to what your friend might like. I'm in agreement with all those who said comedy show. Standing up all evening for a show can be exhausting, no matter how good it is. I went to dozens of standing room only concerts as a teenager and looking back I don't know how I did it; being packed in amongst a crowd of strangers on my feet all night seems much less appealing to me as an adult now that I'm on my feet all day for work too. Not saying some people don't love it, but since your friend didn't express a preference, the comfort of a seated show is the "safe" option for making sure her night is as enjoyable as yours.
Perhaps you two can attend the tribute show as well the next time it plays the nicer seated venue?
Hope this helps. Best wishes!

I agree with everyone when they said comedy. It will cheer you up for your friend's birthday. You don't want to be depress on that special day. And the comedy is siting that way you and your friend can sit and just enjoy the show together. I am so sure your friend was being so sweet by letting you pick the Events that you will be taking her to for her special day.

Comedy show.
You know the venue already and you know it's good-
You have been a bit depressed lately, and you could use a few laughs. Music can chrer you up too of course, but it's more hit or miss, some times music can also make you very emotional, or bring up sad memories etc.
Seated vs. standing gig ! I don't know many tribute bands who are worth standing for them for two hours or more - well , as for that, not many REAL bands either :)

If you have been feeling depressed then what do you think will cheer you up more? I think it is important you make decisions for yourself. Also remember if you are feeling depressed there are people to talk to. Me personally I would do the comedy show.

If you mean a stand-up comedian by "comedy show" go and see them. You say that both shows will be repeated next year but I doubt that the comedy show will use exactly the same material another time around, they will have new gags each time.
A tribute band can vary their costumes and which songs they select but much of their material comes from a limited repertoire.

Sorry to hear you have been feeling depressed. What would you really like to talk about? You surely didn't write in about your choice of entertainment did you? I feel sure you didn't because that would be wasting people's valuable time with a rather trite question.
Please try and put in words what is on your mind. Perhaps someone can shine a light on a solution.
All the best.
