 When was the last day of your period? Sometimes your cycle does vary, added factors such as stress can really throw it off, also if you have had a history of slight irregularity.

 If you're not on the pill, your cycle can vary somewhat. Additionally, if you're living in a college dorm with a bunch of other girls, your cycles may start to synch up. Either or both factors could be causing the change.
Without further info, I could not say more, but maybe a female columnist will know what you're talking about without anything else.
