The long and the short of it is that you can get pregnant at almost any time of the month. The general rule of thumb is that a woman will be most fertile mid-cycle, about 14 days after she started her last period (on a 28 day cycle) as this is when she "typically" ovulates. Having sex around this time would then seem more dangerous in terms of getting pregnant than at any other time. However, as all women are different and all cycles vary, you can get pregnant before your period, after your period and even in some circumstances, during your period. And then, even if you do figure out when you are likely to be most fertile, you have to take into consideration that sperm can survive for a few days inside a woman and so time frames and factors of chance will affect pregnancy. As you have just finished your period when you had sex, assuming a 28 day cycle, you should have a low chance of getting pregnant. As you used contraception, there is an even lower chance of getting pregnant. HOWEVER - there is ALWAYS a slim slim slim chance of getting pregnant no matter how much contraception you use and so if you are worried, you should wait it out until your next period is due and take a test if you miss one. ALSO - contraception, condoms, do NOT protect you from some sexual transmitted diseases! Genital warts etc are sometimes invisible to the naked eye and can be passed via skin on skin contact of the genital area which is not covered by the condom, so you really should think about getting tested for any STIs.In future perhaps you should consider going on the pill or maybe beig a little more careful when it comes to sex and save ourself a lot of worry. I'm sure in this instance you will be ok, good luck xx
