When can I expect the pain to subside?

My ex is an alcoholic and on steroids. His behaviour and attitude have changed dramatically in the past two months, and as such (through self preservation) I've had to leave him.

Has anyone else had problems with the love of their life being an alcoholic or on steroids, and watching them disappear before your very eyes?

This is also my first break up - when can I expect the pain to start to subside, if ever?

A female reader, xemily06x United Kingdom +, writes (27 October 2007):

Hey, i recently spilt up with my bf because even though i still loved him, he was a totally different person. He began to take steriods during our relationship, and it completely effected his personality! He had constant mood swings, getting mad and angry at the smallest of things. He would make EVERYTHING to be my fault, when i was trying to do was look out for him!

Well basically, im saying i know how hard it is so wonder where the person you met, and fell in love with all those months ago had gone. It is so frustrating, and heart breaking...

My ex is still on the steriods, and its still really effecting his moods, and hes losing all his friends due to this....and failing collage...

All you can do is offer help, if he refuses...his lose, move on. Maybe one day when hes left with nothing he'll realise what he had.

Now you have to go out...and im sure you'll meet someone special, usually when u least expect it!!!

good luck!! xxxxx
