His family is latino and were born in mexico and his friends are mostly african american and latino. I don't feel like a trophy or anything and I don't feel different than them so why do they make such a big deal of it? Its not negative but they point it out a great deal.

That doesn't mean that treating you differently is justified, it just means its expected. They are curious not necessarily about your color, but the background and view point that comes with it. Unfortunately, for most people, this curiosity some times blinds people from seeing what's really important and that's love. Evidently, you're fiance sees past the color of your skin and focuses on the content of your character-you can ask him to tell his friends and family to do e same.
PS. Congrats on your engagement!!!

Hi,
racism rears its ugly head in all forms. People seem to forget that racism affects all races and is not just limited to the traditional racism we are used to in modern western countries - where it is predominatly anti-immigrant.
Not much you can really do I'm afraid as people will always seek out differences in others and comment on them. But hats off to you for being totally oblivious to it...you set an example others should follow.
