 Go for what SoVeryConfused suggested. That's what I would think would work best too. But you have to know that a sex toy is just that.. a sex toy. It never compensates for physical contact. I think you and her are expecting too much from a simple toy, it will not bring you closer or create any more intimacy between you. It's just a toy to help masturbate.
But it could be fun to introduce a toy just to spice the webcam sex up a bit. But that's really all it can do, it can't help your relationship or make the distance feel shorter.

as for a sex toy... every woman is different some like a nice Rabbit but that's pretty adventurous as it has penetration, clitoral and g spot stimulation all at once...
a nice small (lipstick sized) inexpensive (about 30 here) pocket rocket is nice as it's good for topical (clitoral) stimulation and can be inserted as well and only takes one AA battery.

You know what your girlfriend likes and needs so find a toy that is designed for that purpose.
