(i've known him for about 5 years, he's 17, i'm 16, and he also has feelings for me as well. found out from a friend) would it just depend on the person..or..what?how bad/good can it be to go out w/ your best friend?

some people wont do it out of fear of losing their best friend. that reason is why i almost didn't date mine, but we've been together for almost a year and still going strong. we know everything about one another, and we have a level of comfort with eachother i never thought possible.
also, if you guys are truly close, a thing like breaking up wont ruin a friendship.
i say go for it and good luck.
