A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I'm 18. There is this guy at work that I started dating back in December '07. We have fun together, he is a GREAT guy, he helps me a lot. I'm there for him, he's there for me... he's 23. We have been official "boyfriend/girlfriend" for only a week now, and Valentine's day is coming up. I didn't really think we were going to do anything special since we haven't been together that long so I was going to get him something simple for Valentine's day and leave it in his car. I was talking to my girl co worker, and I guess he has this big elaborate romantic night planned for me. She said it's expensive, but she can't tell me what it is... I'm not supposed to know she even knows. I keep trying to get info out of her but she's not budging, and I'm only doing that so I can get him something worthwhile for Valentine's day and she said that I should dress really nice. She did tell me that we will be going out of town....

Does anybody have any really good ideas on what I could get him or what I can do for him?

I am in the same boat as you, only i am on the male side of things. My girlfriend and I have only been together a little while as well, but maybe a Watch. A guy can never go wrong when he has a nice watch, especially if it's from a special lady. Have the back of the watch engraved, to make it even more special.

P.S. Valentine's day is on a Saturday. =-D!!!

This is an easy one, let him have his moment, he wants to impress and thats obvious because he has told someone that he can rely to relay the information to you.

I would dress nice, but not over dress, be yourself.

Take along a present for him that is simple, not over the top, a nice tie or maybe some classy cufflinks, nothing extravagant, remember its the thought that counts, not how much money you spend! What does count is how you dress it up, if its in nice packaging that will stand out more than the gift inside.

Drink low alcoholic drinks, this shows you are sensible and in control you are, not that you dont want to get intimate with him, but just letting him know that you are aware of the whole evening that he is making such an effort to make perfect of.

Remember, he is out to impress you, not vice versa if he has gone to the extreme, thank him and praise him for his efforts.
