you must stroke his ego, if there is something wrong, he might feel really bad, and embarrassed. Don't let that deter you. There are lots of things that effect sex drive. Physical condition, stress, medicine, stress.
look at him and see if he has gained weight? Taking a new medicine? stressed at work??
If you love him and want this to get better, you must help him, sometimes he does not realize that the sex has decreased. and don't feel bad about asking for it.
