What really happens to the soul when we die???

Question - (28 July 2007) 6 Answers - (Newest, 1 August 2007)
A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I know someone who commited suicide. Now that I am dealing with ok - she had a pretty hard life; I often thought - I wonder how she copes and carries on with life. So that I do not need advice or counselling for - I am ok with it.

What I am concerned is what happens to her soul now (if there is such a thing) Brought up catholic I was taught all suicides burn in hell. But I have since moved away from Christianity and have read of different cultures beliefs. So just wondered if anyone had thoughts on the there-after or experiences with people who commited suicide.

thanks

Andy00 agony auntI'm afraid I look at it that; There is just no way of knowing till we go ourselves.

Death is too mysterious to question. There is absolutely no way of knowing where we go when we go. So why worry about it?

There could be nothing. But if there is something, we will find out when we leave the Earth. Until then; Life is too short to worry about the end.

Why believe somebody who had a hard time of life and decided to end it when it became to much, is now in a bad place? She is at rest now, and that is what she wanted.

No wonder this was put in the "Big Questions" category. Still, I hope you will look upon my opinion in a possitive light.

A male reader, freekeswar India +, writes (28 July 2007):

freekeswar agony auntDear friend,

First thing you need to know is that suicide is not a solution to any problem. Brave people will never commit suicide. Before answering your questions lets think in a scientific way. I am a hindu by religion but i don't believe in any religion, I believe in nature.

Who we are? From where we actually came? Try finding answer for this question. We all evolved from the nature, millions and millions of years of evolution has created a very complex creature called human being. But this form has a unique power, if you are in this form u can find answer for the above questions. The nature is 100 % pure, if you want to mix with it you need to be 100 % pure. Why you get problems in your life, because you have done something wrong. The wrong thing can be either from this birth or from the previous births, this is what they call karma, so until you clear all your karma , you can not mix with the nature, which results in no rebirth.

The only thing that will happen to this soul is this soul will have rebirth and come back to this earth soon and this cycle repeats. But when one commits suicide this soul can't mix with the nature because it is not 100% pure and it can't take rebirth till its actual death date, say if that person has not committed suicide, he/she will be living for 70 years, so if that person commits suicide at the age of 30 then for the next 40 years that soul can't take a birth in this earth or mix with the nature, I have read in lot of books, that, the life this soul will have, will be much worse than what it had in this world. This soul will be called ghosts in this form.

If the death is normal then the time taken by the soul for rebirth will depend on the amount of good and bad thing this soul has done. Actually its not good and bad things, it is good and bad thoughts. The only way you can mix with this nature is my doing meditation. Meditation helps you purify your thoughts, so you start thinking more positively in this way you can find who you are.

I really want you to do this. Ask your self who am I? if you say i am jenifer (say) , i will say its your name again ask your self who am i? The answer to this lies with in you, The path towards finding the answer to this question will be abstract and hard to understand. Each and every thing in this world is made of very fine particle, the beauty is this fine particle can evolve into different form. Lets say the particle within each and everyone as soul, this will never die, your job is to purify these particles and mix with the place where it came from.

The people who has done this in the past thought of a way to make other people understand this, since this concept is hard to understand, they thought what if we make people move toward this goal in an indirect way, so they created religion. As people evolve the process of evolution has done a beautiful thing, the people forgot the inner meaning of what they do and started blindly doing things. So each and every religion is the same, they all help people to understand who they are in an indirect way.

So the person has done a wrong thing my committing suicide, what you need to understand is that, the only thing you can do in this world is to change yourself. So forget about it and be happy.

Butterflyfly agony auntI like the buddhist approach. all things are one, just different shapes and forms. that's pretty metaphisical but quite soothing and being such a general 'rule', it includes all the possibilities :). so your friend exists now in your mind, and other people's mind, and in the things she's done/touched in her life, and she difenately exists in a physical form too, just a different one.

A reader, anonymous, writes (28 July 2007):

The soul does not die. We are born from a Loving, all knowing God that is eternal. We too are eternal. Our spirts are eternal. Our bodies do die, they do go into the ground, our body's worms do consume the body.

Our spirit is what gives us "anime". It is non destructible. The spirt moves to the spirit world, will see loved ones, will live on, will continue growing and learning.

Life does not end after this one. We exsisted before this life.

There is no harsh judgement for your friend. She is safe and happy.

Be comforted and may you know truth when you hear it, by the warm feeling of peace you get when you hear it. The Spirits confirmation that what you hear is true.

A reader, anonymous, writes (28 July 2007):

I have a friend whose friend chose this... Or rather chose not to chose. It's sad. It's terribly sad when it happens to someone close to us. Some think there is no way out of their supposed problems and abandon the fight. What happens with their souls, so many debates and controversies and people claiming they have died and returning to share the after-experiences. Some are fakes, some are real. There was a documentary on discovery of a man who was declared dead and after a week or so came back, after beginning to decompose. Miracle, lie, but it's all been documented. Some say "Spirits don't call on us. It's us who need to talk to them and need to believe in signs from them." What can I say, I read about a little girl who kept on saying she was married with children, they "followed" her details and she seemed to have been a victim of the nature that forgot to erase her memory before sending her spirit in a new life. I've plainly told this for the sake of the story! We can't know the truth, I just think the reincarnation theory is the most probable of all, spirits given new lives until purification, but who can tell for sure...

Your soul goes back to whom it belongs. God. Once your dead.Im afraid thats it. We dont see, we dont hear,we dont feel.

There is no life after death, we have to accept that, unfort alot dont.

Sit now,and try and imagine the fact that space is endless? it goes on forever? you cant get past a certain point, we are not meant to, we are not programmed. Just like imagining what its like when are dead. Theres nothing.

Since were talking about death, here is a poem i wish to share and will have on my gravestone~

Dont laugh at me, as you walk by,

What you are now, once so was i.

What i am now, you will soon be,

so be prepared to follow me.
